More about Daniel:
Daniel knew from a young age that he wanted to work with plants. In 2003 Daniel began his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University pursuing a horticultural degree. His original desire was to become a plant breeder (a person who develops new varieties using traditional or non-conventional means). During his time at MSU Daniel worked in a lab that specialized in plant ecology and genomic research. Daniel managed all of the production greenhouses and grew the plants used for research projects such as Costus a spiral ginger from South America as well as lobelia cardinalis and tradescantia native to Michigan. He also participated in working in field trials and pollination work. During this time he simultaneously worked part time in the botany department working with the curator to care for the plant collections housed in three large state of the art greenhouses. He also taught plant ID courses under a professor as a teachers assistant. After undergraduate school priorities shifted and Daniel found himself working in a non horticultural career. In spite of this he has still been strongly involved in the horticultural industry. His passion for exotic plants and learning has made him an invaluable resource when it comes to plant knowledge. There is hardly a plant that he hasn't seen nor grown. Daniel's passion for teaching others about plants can be shown in his willingness to share information about key topics for success in growing plants.
