Alex Wnuk built the greenhouse in 1928, and his initials still mark the impressive chimney. In 1945, one of his six children, Sylvia, bought the greenhouse with her husband, Joseph Graye, establishing Graye's Greenhouse. Sylvia and Joseph's three children and their spouses: Joe and Connie Graye, Alyce and Richard Humphrey, and Mary Ann and Dan Vittore, continued to run the greenhouse until 2019, when they sold the business to Rachel Nisch. Rachel is dedicated to ensuring the greenhouse’s preservation and growth.
The greenhouse specializes in houseplants, particularly succulents, cactus, begonias, and ferns. After 90 years, Graye's Greenhouse continues to provide odd stuff and a breath of fresh air.
